فَقَالُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا رَبَّنَا لَا تَجْعَلْنَا فِتْنَةً لِّلْقَوْمِ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
They said: in God we have put our trust. Our Lord, do not make us a trial for the wrongdoing people. The commentaries take the asking together: do not give them the upper hand over us, so that they take it as proof that they are in the right.
تو انہوں نے کہا: ہم نے اللہ ہی پر بھروسہ کیا۔ اے ہمارے رب، ہمیں ظالم قوم کے لیے فتنہ نہ بنا۔ مفسرین کے نزدیک اس دعا کا مطلب یہ تھا کہ انہیں ہم پر غالب نہ کر، ورنہ وہ اسے اپنے حق پر ہونے کی دلیل سمجھ بیٹھیں گے۔
