بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ٱلْقَارِعَةُ
The Striking Blow. Both traditions gloss it as a name of the Day of Resurrection, taken from a blow struck hard, and both say the same thing about what it strikes: the hearts, with the terror of it. The sura is named from the word.
”اَلْقَارِعَۃ“ قیامت کے ناموں میں سے ایک نام ہے، جو ”قَرْع“ سے ہے، یعنی ایسی زور دار ضرب جس کی آواز سنائی دے۔ یہ نام اس لیے دیا گیا کہ وہ اپنی ہولناکیوں سے دلوں کو کھٹکھٹا دے گی اور اجرامِ فلکی کو آپس میں ٹکرا دے گی۔ سورت کا آغاز صرف اسی لفظ سے ہوا، تو یہ کسی بہت بڑی چیز کا اعلان بن گیا، اس سے پہلے کہ اس کی تفصیل بتائی جائے۔
