إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلصَّبْرِ
Except those who believe and do righteous deeds, and enjoin the truth on one another and enjoin patience on one another. Both traditions count four things here and read them as a single exception: the first two are what a man does himself, the last two are what he owes the people around him, and only all four together take him out of the loss.
پھر استثنا چار اوصاف کے ساتھ آیا، جن سے وہی بچتا ہے جو ان سب کو جمع کرے: اللہ اور اس کے رسولوں پر اور جن چیزوں پر ایمان کا حکم ہے ان پر ایمان؛ عملِ صالح، جو اسی ایمان کا اعضا میں ظاہر ہونے والا پھل ہے؛ حق کی وصیت، کہ وہ ایک دوسرے کو اس پر جمے رہنے کی تلقین کرتے ہیں؛ اور صبر کی وصیت — طاعت پر، گناہ سے رکنے پر اور آنے والی آزمائش پر۔ پہلی دو باتیں اپنے نفس کی اصلاح ہیں اور آخری دو دوسروں کی اصلاح — اور نجات ان میں سے کسی ایک سے بھی مکمل نہیں ہوتی۔
