وَيَمْنَعُونَ ٱلْمَاعُونَ
And withhold small kindnesses. The commentaries gloss the word by the smallest things people ask of one another and pass between them, and the sura closes on his refusing even those.
”اور وہ ماعون روک لیتے ہیں۔“ ”ماعون“ سے مراد وہ روزمرہ کی چھوٹی چیزیں ہیں جو عاریتاً دینے کا رواج ہے: برتن، ڈول، کلہاڑی، سوئی وغیرہ — جن کے دے دینے سے دینے والے کا کچھ نہیں بگڑتا۔ اور اس لفظ میں مال کے وہ واجب حقوق بھی داخل ہیں جو اس سے کہیں بڑے ہیں۔ یوں ان میں دو خرابیاں جمع ہو گئیں: اپنے رب کے ساتھ معاملے کی خرابی، اور لوگوں کے ساتھ معاملے کی خرابی۔
