لَهُۥ مُعَقِّبَٰتٌ مِّنۢ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِۦ يَحْفَظُونَهُۥ مِنْ أَمْرِ ٱللَّهِ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُغَيِّرُ مَا بِقَوْمٍ حَتَّىٰ يُغَيِّرُوا۟ مَا بِأَنفُسِهِمْ وَإِذَآ أَرَادَ ٱللَّهُ بِقَوْمٍ سُوٓءًا فَلَا مَرَدَّ لَهُۥ وَمَا لَهُم مِّن دُونِهِۦ مِن وَالٍ
Every person has angels that follow one after another, before him and behind him, keeping watch over him by God's command. Then comes the law this sūrah is best known for: God does not change the state of a people until they change what is in themselves. And when God wills harm for a people there is no turning it back, and they have no protector apart from Him.
ہر انسان کے ساتھ فرشتے ایک دوسرے کے پیچھے آتے ہیں، اس کے آگے اور پیچھے سے، اللہ کے حکم سے اس کی حفاظت کرتے ہیں۔ پھر وہ اصول آتا ہے جس کے لیے یہ سورت سب سے زیادہ جانی جاتی ہے: اللہ کسی قوم کی حالت اس وقت تک نہیں بدلتا جب تک وہ خود اپنے آپ میں جو کچھ ہے اسے نہ بدل لے۔ اور جب اللہ کسی قوم کے لیے برائی کا ارادہ کر لے تو اسے کوئی ٹال نہیں سکتا، اور اس کے سوا ان کا کوئی حامی نہیں۔
