وَيَقُولُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَوْلَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ قُلْ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُضِلُّ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَهْدِىٓ إِلَيْهِ مَنْ أَنَابَ
Those who refuse say: why has no sign been sent down on him from his Lord? Say: God lets go astray whom He wills, and guides to Himself whoever turns back to Him. The commentaries read the answer as putting the matter where it belongs — a sign does not make guidance, and the one who turns is the one who is guided.
انکار کرنے والے کہتے ہیں: اس پر اس کے رب کی طرف سے کوئی نشانی کیوں نہیں اتاری گئی؟ کہہ دو: اللہ جسے چاہے گمراہ کر دیتا ہے، اور جو اس کی طرف رجوع کرے اسے اپنی طرف ہدایت دیتا ہے۔ مفسرین اس جواب کو معاملے کو اس کی اصل جگہ پر رکھنے کے طور پر پڑھتے ہیں — نشانی ہدایت پیدا نہیں کرتی، اور جو رجوع کرتا ہے وہی ہدایت پاتا ہے۔
