وَفِى ٱلْأَرْضِ قِطَعٌ مُّتَجَٰوِرَٰتٌ وَجَنَّٰتٌ مِّنْ أَعْنَٰبٍ وَزَرْعٌ وَنَخِيلٌ صِنْوَانٌ وَغَيْرُ صِنْوَانٍ يُسْقَىٰ بِمَآءٍ وَٰحِدٍ وَنُفَضِّلُ بَعْضَهَا عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ فِى ٱلْأُكُلِ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَعْقِلُونَ
In the earth there are tracts of land lying side by side, gardens of vines, tilled fields, and date-palms growing several from a single root and others standing alone. One water is given to them all, and still God makes some excel others in what they yield. The argument the commentaries draw is exactly this: the same soil and the same water bringing out different things is a doing, not an accident — a sign for people who use their reason.
زمین میں ایک دوسرے سے ملحق قطعات ہیں، انگور کے باغات، کھیتیاں، اور کھجور کے درخت جو ایک جڑ سے کئی نکلتے ہیں اور کچھ الگ الگ اگتے ہیں۔ سب کو ایک ہی پانی دیا جاتا ہے، پھر بھی اللہ بعض کو پیداوار میں بعض پر فضیلت دیتا ہے۔ مفسرین اسی بات پر دلیل لاتے ہیں: ایک ہی مٹی اور ایک ہی پانی سے مختلف چیزوں کا نکلنا اتفاق نہیں بلکہ ایک تدبیر ہے، عقل رکھنے والوں کے لیے نشانی۔
