وَيَقُولُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَوْلَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦٓ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُنذِرٌ وَلِكُلِّ قَوْمٍ هَادٍ
Those who refuse ask why no sign has been sent down on him from his Lord, meaning a sign of the kind given to the prophets before him, since they would not count what had already come. The answer draws the line around what was laid on him: you are only a warner, and producing signs is not your task. And every people has one who guides them.
انکار کرنے والے پوچھتے ہیں کہ اس پر اس کے رب کی طرف سے کوئی نشانی کیوں نہیں اتاری گئی، یعنی ایسی نشانی جیسی پہلے انبیاء کو دی گئی، کیونکہ جو کچھ پہلے آ چکا اسے وہ شمار ہی نہیں کرتے۔ جواب ان پر رکھی گئی ذمہ داری کی حد متعین کرتا ہے: تم تو صرف خبردار کرنے والے ہو، نشانیاں لانا تمہارا کام نہیں۔ اور ہر قوم کے لیے کوئی نہ کوئی راہنما ضرور ہے۔
