بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ الٓر كِتَٰبٌ أَنزَلْنَٰهُ إِلَيْكَ لِتُخْرِجَ ٱلنَّاسَ مِنَ ٱلظُّلُمَٰتِ إِلَى ٱلنُّورِ بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطِ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْحَمِيدِ
Alif, Lām, Rā — letters whose meaning the commentaries leave with God. This is a Book sent down to you for one purpose, stated in the first breath: to bring people out of the darkness into the light, by their Lord's leave, to the path of the Mighty, the Praiseworthy. The darkness is plural and the light is one.
الف، لام، را — ایسے حروف جن کا مطلب مفسرین نے اللہ کے علم پر چھوڑا ہے۔ یہ ایک کتاب ہے جو آپ کی طرف اسی ایک مقصد کے لیے نازل کی گئی، جو پہلے ہی جملے میں بیان کر دیا گیا: لوگوں کو اندھیروں سے نکال کر روشنی کی طرف لانا، ان کے رب کی اجازت سے، اس ہستی کے راستے کی طرف جو غالب اور قابل تعریف ہے۔ اندھیرے جمع میں ہیں اور روشنی واحد میں۔
