وَٱسْتَفْتَحُوا۟ وَخَابَ كُلُّ جَبَّارٍ عَنِيدٍ
And they sought the decision, and every overbearing and obstinate one came to nothing. The commentaries read the seeking as the messengers asking God to decide between them and their people, and the deciding is what the whole passage has been moving towards.
