وَءَاتَىٰكُم مِّن كُلِّ مَا سَأَلْتُمُوهُ وَإِن تَعُدُّوا۟ نِعْمَتَ ٱللَّهِ لَا تُحْصُوهَآ إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ لَظَلُومٌ كَفَّارٌ
And He gave you something of everything you asked Him for. And if you tried to count God's favour you could not number it. The commentaries take the failure to count as the point rather than the complaint: what cannot be reckoned cannot be repaid. Man is indeed given to wrong and to ingratitude.
اور اس نے تمہیں ہر اس چیز میں سے کچھ دیا جو تم نے اس سے مانگی۔ اور اگر تم اللہ کی نعمت گننا چاہو تو اسے شمار نہیں کر سکو گے۔ مفسرین اس گنتی سے قاصر رہنے کو محض شکایت کے بجائے اصل نکتہ سمجھتے ہیں: جو چیز شمار نہیں کی جا سکتی اس کا بدلہ بھی نہیں دیا جا سکتا۔ انسان واقعی بڑا ظالم اور بڑا ناشکرا ہے۔
