وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰٓ إِن تَكْفُرُوٓا۟ أَنتُمْ وَمَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَغَنِىٌّ حَمِيدٌ
And Moses said: if you are ungrateful, you and everyone on earth together, God is beyond all need and worthy of all praise. The commentaries take the point to be that gratitude adds nothing to Him and ingratitude takes nothing from Him; what is at stake in thanking Him is the one who thanks.
اور موسیٰ نے کہا: اگر تم ناشکری کرو، تم اور جتنے لوگ زمین میں ہیں سب مل کر بھی، تو اللہ ہر ضرورت سے بے نیاز اور ہر تعریف کے لائق ہے۔ مفسرین اس بات کا نکتہ یہ سمجھتے ہیں کہ شکر اس میں کچھ اضافہ نہیں کرتا اور ناشکری اس سے کچھ کم نہیں کرتی؛ شکر کرنے میں جو داؤ پر لگا ہے وہ خود شکر کرنے والا ہے۔
