بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ الٓر تِلْكَ ءَايَٰتُ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ وَقُرْءَانٍ مُّبِينٍ
Alif, Lām, Rā — letters whose meaning the commentaries leave with God. These are the signs of the Book, and of a Recitation that makes things plain. The sūrah names its subject in the first line: the Book itself, which is what the people it answers were mocking.
الف، لام، را — یہ ایسے حروف ہیں جن کی حقیقی مراد مفسرین اللہ ہی کے سپرد کرتے ہیں۔ یہ اس کتاب کی آیتیں ہیں اور ایسے قرآن کی جو بات کو صاف صاف کھول کر بیان کرتا ہے۔ یہ سورت اپنے موضوع کا نام پہلی ہی سطر میں لے لیتی ہے: خود یہی کتاب، جس کا وہی لوگ مذاق اڑایا کرتے تھے جنہیں یہ جواب دے رہی ہے۔
