قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّآ أُرْسِلْنَآ إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍ مُّجْرِمِينَ
They said: we have been sent to a guilty people — named in the commentaries as the people of Lot. The wording puts the sending before the naming, so what they are is stated before who they are.
انہوں نے کہا: ہمیں ایک مجرم قوم کی طرف بھیجا گیا ہے، جسے مفسرین قوم لوط قرار دیتے ہیں۔ الفاظ کی ترتیب میں بھیجنے کی بات پہلے آئی ہے اور نام بعد میں، یعنی پہلے یہ بیان ہوا کہ وہ کیا ہیں، پھر یہ کہ وہ کون ہیں۔
