إِلَّا ٱمْرَأَتَهُۥ قَدَّرْنَآ إِنَّهَا لَمِنَ ٱلْغَٰبِرِينَ
except his wife. We decreed that she would be among those who stay behind. The commentaries gloss staying behind as remaining with the people who were destroyed.
سوائے اس کی بیوی کے، ہم نے یہ طے کر دیا ہے کہ وہ پیچھے رہ جانے والوں میں سے ہے۔ مفسرین پیچھے رہ جانے کی وضاحت اس بات سے کرتے ہیں کہ وہ اسی قوم کے ساتھ رہ جائے گی جسے ہلاک کیا جانا تھا۔
