مَا نُنَزِّلُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَمَا كَانُوٓا۟ إِذًا مُّنظَرِينَ
We do not send the angels down except with the truth — and the commentaries gloss that as the punishment itself — and then they would be given no more time. The answer is that the sign they are asking for is the end of the delay they are living in.
ہم فرشتوں کو حق کے ساتھ ہی اتارتے ہیں، اور مفسرین اس حق سے مراد خود عذاب ہی لیتے ہیں، اور پھر انہیں کوئی مہلت نہیں دی جائے گی۔ جواب یہی ہے کہ جس نشانی کا وہ مطالبہ کر رہے ہیں وہ دراصل اس مہلت کا خاتمہ ہے جس میں وہ ابھی جی رہے ہیں۔
