فَمَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ
and what they had been earning was of no use to them at all — the commentaries name the fortresses they had cut and the wealth they had gathered, so that what failed them was exactly what they had trusted.
تو ان کی کمائی ہوئی کوئی چیز بھی ان کے کچھ کام نہ آ سکی۔ مفسرین یہاں انہی قلعوں اور جمع کیے ہوئے مال و دولت کا نام لیتے ہیں، تاکہ یہ واضح ہو کہ جو چیز ناکام ہوئی وہی تھی جس پر انہیں پورا بھروسہ تھا۔
