أَوْ يَأْخُذَهُمْ عَلَىٰ تَخَوُّفٍ فَإِنَّ رَبَّكُمْ لَرَءُوفٌ رَّحِيمٌ
Or that He will not seize them by a slow wearing away? Your Lord is indeed Kind, Merciful. The commentaries gloss the wearing away as loss coming little by little rather than all at once — and note that the naming of mercy comes at the end of the three threats and not before them.
یا وہ انہیں آہستہ آہستہ کمزور کرتے ہوئے پکڑ لے؟ بے شک تمہارا رب بہت شفیق نہایت مہربان ہے۔ مفسرین اس آہستہ آہستہ کمزور کرنے کو یکبارگی نقصان کی بجائے تھوڑا تھوڑا نقصان سمجھتے ہیں، اور رحمت کے ذکر کو ان تینوں دھمکیوں کے آخر میں رکھے جانے کی طرف توجہ دلاتے ہیں۔
