وَٱخْفِضْ لَهُمَا جَنَاحَ ٱلذُّلِّ مِنَ ٱلرَّحْمَةِ وَقُل رَّبِّ ٱرْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِى صَغِيرًا
And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy, and say: my Lord, have mercy on them as they brought me up when I was little. The commentaries gloss the lowered wing as gentleness in every movement, and note the reason the prayer gives for asking mercy on them: what they did for a person who could not yet do anything.
اور رحمت کے ساتھ ان کے سامنے عاجزی کے بازو جھکائے رکھو، اور کہو: اے میرے رب، ان دونوں پر رحم فرما جیسے انہوں نے مجھے بچپن میں پالا تھا۔ مفسرین نے عاجزی کے بازو جھکانے کی تشریح ہر حرکت میں نرمی کے طور پر کی ہے، اور بتایا ہے کہ اس دعا میں رحم مانگنے کی وجہ یہ بیان کی گئی ہے کہ انہوں نے ایک ایسے بچے کے لیے سب کچھ کیا جو خود کچھ بھی کرنے کے قابل نہیں تھا۔
