أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ يَبْتَغُونَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمُ ٱلْوَسِيلَةَ أَيُّهُمْ أَقْرَبُ وَيَرْجُونَ رَحْمَتَهُۥ وَيَخَافُونَ عَذَابَهُۥٓ إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ كَانَ مَحْذُورًا
Those they call on are themselves seeking the way to their Lord, which of them is nearest; they hope for His mercy and fear His punishment. Your Lord's punishment is a thing to be wary of. The commentaries note the case being made: what is being prayed to is itself praying.
جنہیں یہ پکارتے ہیں وہ خود اپنے رب کی طرف قربت کا راستہ تلاش کرتے ہیں کہ ان میں سے کون زیادہ قریب ہے، وہ اس کی رحمت کی امید رکھتے ہیں اور اس کے عذاب سے ڈرتے ہیں۔ تمہارے رب کا عذاب واقعی ڈرنے کی چیز ہے۔ مفسرین اس دلیل کو یوں بیان کرتے ہیں: جسے پکارا جا رہا ہے وہ خود بھی پکارنے والا ہے۔
