وَإِذَا مَسَّكُمُ ٱلضُّرُّ فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ ضَلَّ مَن تَدْعُونَ إِلَّآ إِيَّاهُ فَلَمَّا نَجَّىٰكُمْ إِلَى ٱلْبَرِّ أَعْرَضْتُمْ وَكَانَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ كَفُورًا
And when harm touches you at sea, those you call on are gone, except Him. Then when He brings you safe to land, you turn away — and man was ever ungrateful. The commentaries note that the sea strips the case bare: at that moment nobody calls on anything else.
اور جب سمندر میں تمہیں کوئی تکلیف پہنچے تو جنہیں تم پکارتے ہو وہ سب غائب ہو جاتے ہیں، سوائے اسی ایک ذات کے۔ پھر جب وہ تمہیں بچا کر خشکی پر لے آتا ہے تو تم منہ موڑ لیتے ہو — انسان ہمیشہ سے ناشکرا رہا ہے۔ مفسرین بتاتے ہیں کہ سمندر اس دلیل کو بالکل صاف کر کے دکھا دیتا ہے: اس لمحے کوئی بھی کسی اور کو نہیں پکارتا۔
