عَسَىٰ رَبُّكُمْ أَن يَرْحَمَكُمْ وَإِنْ عُدتُّمْ عُدْنَا وَجَعَلْنَا جَهَنَّمَ لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ حَصِيرًا
It may be that your Lord will have mercy on you. But if you go back, We go back — and We have made Hell a confinement for those who refuse. The commentaries read the two halves as one standing rule rather than a threat about one occasion.
ہو سکتا ہے کہ تمہارا رب تم پر رحم فرمائے۔ لیکن اگر تم دوبارہ وہی روش اپناؤ گے تو ہم بھی دوبارہ وہی سزا دیں گے، اور ہم نے جہنم کو انکار کرنے والوں کے لیے قید خانہ بنا رکھا ہے۔ مفسرین اس آیت کے دونوں حصوں کو کسی ایک واقعے کی دھمکی نہیں بلکہ ایک مستقل اور ہمیشہ قائم رہنے والا اصول سمجھتے ہیں۔
