سَيَقُولُونَ ثَلَٰثَةٌ رَّابِعُهُمْ كَلْبُهُمْ وَيَقُولُونَ خَمْسَةٌ سَادِسُهُمْ كَلْبُهُمْ رَجْمًۢا بِٱلْغَيْبِ وَيَقُولُونَ سَبْعَةٌ وَثَامِنُهُمْ كَلْبُهُمْ قُل رَّبِّىٓ أَعْلَمُ بِعِدَّتِهِم مَّا يَعْلَمُهُمْ إِلَّا قَلِيلٌ فَلَا تُمَارِ فِيهِمْ إِلَّا مِرَآءً ظَٰهِرًا وَلَا تَسْتَفْتِ فِيهِم مِّنْهُمْ أَحَدًا
They will say: three, and their dog the fourth; and they will say: five, and their dog the sixth — guessing at what is hidden; and they will say: seven, and their dog the eighth. Say: my Lord knows best their number; only a few know them. So do not argue about them except with an open argument, and do not ask any of them about them.
کچھ لوگ کہیں گے: تین تھے اور چوتھا ان کا کتا۔ اور کچھ کہیں گے: پانچ تھے اور چھٹا ان کا کتا، یہ سب غیب میں محض اٹکل پچو باتیں ہیں۔ اور کچھ کہیں گے: سات تھے اور آٹھواں ان کا کتا۔ کہہ دیجیے: میرا رب ہی ان کی صحیح تعداد جانتا ہے، انہیں بہت کم لوگ ہی جانتے ہیں۔ پس ان کے بارے میں صرف سرسری بات کے سوا بحث نہ کریں، اور نہ ہی ان کے بارے میں کسی سے رائے مانگیں۔
