قَالَ رَبِّ ٱجْعَل لِّىٓ ءَايَةً قَالَ ءَايَتُكَ أَلَّا تُكَلِّمَ ٱلنَّاسَ ثَلَٰثَ لَيَالٍ سَوِيًّا
He said: my Lord, appoint a sign for me. He said: your sign is that you will not speak to people for three nights, though sound in body. The commentaries note that the sign is not a proof shown to others but a condition he is put into himself.
اس نے کہا: اے میرے رب، میرے لیے کوئی نشانی مقرر کر دے۔ اس نے فرمایا: تیری نشانی یہ ہے کہ تو پوری صحت کے باوجود تین راتوں تک لوگوں سے بات نہیں کر سکے گا۔ مفسرین نوٹ کرتے ہیں کہ یہ نشانی دوسروں کو دکھایا جانے والا ثبوت نہیں بلکہ خود اسی پر ڈالی گئی ایک کیفیت تھی۔
