فَأَجَآءَهَا ٱلْمَخَاضُ إِلَىٰ جِذْعِ ٱلنَّخْلَةِ قَالَتْ يَٰلَيْتَنِى مِتُّ قَبْلَ هَٰذَا وَكُنتُ نَسْيًا مَّنسِيًّا
And the pains of birth drove her to the trunk of the palm-tree. She said: if only I had died before this, and been a thing forgotten, out of memory altogether. The commentaries read the words as spoken under what she could see coming — not a wish against life, but against what would be said.
پھر دردِ زہ نے اسے کھجور کے تنے کی طرف لا کھڑا کیا۔ اس نے کہا: کاش میں اس سے پہلے مر چکی ہوتی اور بالکل بھولی بسری چیز بن جاتی۔ مفسرین اس بات کو زندگی کے خلاف خواہش نہیں بلکہ اس بات کے خلاف سمجھتے ہیں جو کہی جانے والی تھی، اور یہ الفاظ اس وقت کہے گئے جب اسے آنے والی بات کا اندازہ ہو چکا تھا۔
