يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَقُولُوا۟ رَٰعِنَا وَقُولُوا۟ ٱنظُرْنَا وَٱسْمَعُوا۟ وَلِلْكَٰفِرِينَ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
You who believe, do not say 'raina', but say 'unzurna' - look at us - and listen. And for those who refuse there is a painful punishment. The first word could be twisted into an insult by those looking for one, so the believers were told to use the word that cannot be bent.
اے ایمان والو! 'راعنا' نہ کہو بلکہ 'انظرنا' کہو — یعنی ہمیں دیکھ — اور غور سے سنو۔ اور کافروں کے لیے دردناک عذاب ہے۔ پہلا لفظ ایسا تھا کہ جو اسے موڑ کر طعنہ بنانا چاہتے وہ ایسا کر سکتے تھے، اس لیے مومنوں کو ایسا لفظ استعمال کرنے کو کہا گیا جسے موڑا نہیں جا سکتا۔
