وَإِذِ ٱبْتَلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِـۧمَ رَبُّهُۥ بِكَلِمَٰتٍ فَأَتَمَّهُنَّ قَالَ إِنِّى جَاعِلُكَ لِلنَّاسِ إِمَامًا قَالَ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِى قَالَ لَا يَنَالُ عَهْدِى ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
And when his Lord tested Abraham with certain commands and he carried them through, He said, 'I am making you a leader for mankind.' Abraham said, 'And of my offspring?' He said, 'My covenant does not reach the wrongdoers.' The leadership he was given he immediately asked to be extended, and the answer neither refuses his children nor promises them: it names the one thing that disqualifies.
اور یاد کرو جب ابراہیم کو اس کے رب نے کچھ باتوں کے ذریعے آزمایا، تو اس نے انہیں پورا کر دیا۔ اللہ نے فرمایا: 'میں تمہیں لوگوں کے لیے پیشوا بنانے والا ہوں۔' ابراہیم نے عرض کیا: 'اور میری اولاد میں سے بھی؟' فرمایا: 'میرا عہد ظالموں تک نہیں پہنچتا۔' جو پیشوائی اسے دی گئی تھی اسی وقت اس نے چاہا کہ وہ اس کی اولاد تک بڑھا دی جائے، اور جواب نہ اس کی اولاد سے انکار کرتا ہے اور نہ انہیں یقین دلاتا ہے: وہ صرف وہ ایک چیز بتاتا ہے جو نااہل کر دیتی ہے۔
