يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ ٱلصِّيَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ
You who believe, fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, so that you may guard yourselves. It is not presented as new, and the reason given for it is not the abstaining but what the abstaining is for.
اے ایمان والو! تم پر روزے فرض کیے گئے جیسے تم سے پہلے لوگوں پر فرض کیے گئے تھے، تاکہ تم بچ سکو۔ یہ کوئی نئی چیز کے طور پر پیش نہیں کی گئی، اور جو وجہ بتائی گئی ہے وہ خود بھوکا رہنا نہیں بلکہ وہ چیز ہے جس کے لیے بھوکا رہا جاتا ہے۔
