شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أُنزِلَ فِيهِ ٱلْقُرْءَانُ هُدًى لِّلنَّاسِ وَبَيِّنَٰتٍ مِّنَ ٱلْهُدَىٰ وَٱلْفُرْقَانِ فَمَن شَهِدَ مِنكُمُ ٱلشَّهْرَ فَلْيَصُمْهُ وَمَن كَانَ مَرِيضًا أَوْ عَلَىٰ سَفَرٍ فَعِدَّةٌ مِّنْ أَيَّامٍ أُخَرَ يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ بِكُمُ ٱلْيُسْرَ وَلَا يُرِيدُ بِكُمُ ٱلْعُسْرَ وَلِتُكْمِلُوا۟ ٱلْعِدَّةَ وَلِتُكَبِّرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ مَا هَدَىٰكُمْ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ
The month of Ramadan, in which the Qur'an was sent down as guidance for mankind, and as clear proofs of the guidance, and as the criterion. So whoever among you is present for the month shall fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey - then a number of other days. God wants ease for you and does not want hardship for you; and that you complete the number, and magnify God for having guided you, and that you may be thankful. The reason the month is singled out is given before the duty is: it is named for what came down in it.
رمضان کا مہینہ، جس میں قرآن نازل کیا گیا، لوگوں کے لیے ہدایت اور ہدایت کے واضح دلائل اور حق و باطل میں فرق کرنے والا بنا کر۔ سو تم میں سے جو اس مہینے میں موجود ہو وہ اس کے روزے رکھے، اور جو بیمار ہو یا سفر پر ہو تو دوسرے دنوں میں گنتی پوری کرے۔ اللہ تمہارے لیے آسانی چاہتا ہے اور تمہارے لیے مشکل نہیں چاہتا؛ اور یہ کہ تم گنتی پوری کرو اور اللہ کی بڑائی بیان کرو اس ہدایت پر جو اس نے تمہیں دی، اور تاکہ تم شکر گزار بنو۔ اس مہینے کو خاص کرنے کی جو وجہ ہے وہ فرض سے پہلے بتا دی گئی ہے: اسے اسی چیز کے نام پر رکھا گیا ہے جو اس میں نازل ہوئی۔
