يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلْأَهِلَّةِ قُلْ هِىَ مَوَٰقِيتُ لِلنَّاسِ وَٱلْحَجِّ وَلَيْسَ ٱلْبِرُّ بِأَن تَأْتُوا۟ ٱلْبُيُوتَ مِن ظُهُورِهَا وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱلْبِرَّ مَنِ ٱتَّقَىٰ وَأْتُوا۟ ٱلْبُيُوتَ مِنْ أَبْوَٰبِهَا وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ
They ask you about the crescent moons. Say: they are appointed times for people and for the pilgrimage. And it is not righteousness that you enter houses from the back; righteousness is the one who guards himself. So enter houses by their doors, and be mindful of God, so that you may succeed. They asked why the moon changes shape, and the answer is what the changing is for: a fixed moon would tell no one the date.
لوگ آپ سے چاند کی تاریخوں کے بارے میں پوچھتے ہیں۔ کہہ دیجیے: یہ لوگوں کے لیے اور حج کے لیے وقت مقرر کرنے کا ذریعہ ہیں۔ اور نیکی یہ نہیں کہ تم گھروں میں ان کی پشت کی طرف سے داخل ہو؛ بلکہ نیکی یہ ہے کہ انسان بچے۔ سو گھروں میں ان کے دروازوں سے داخل ہو، اور اللہ سے ڈرتے رہو، تاکہ تم کامیاب ہو۔ انہوں نے پوچھا تھا کہ چاند کیوں شکل بدلتا رہتا ہے، اور جواب یہ بتاتا ہے کہ یہ بدلاؤ کس کام کے لیے ہے: ایک بے بدلے چاند کسی کو تاریخ نہ بتاتا۔
