ٱلشَّهْرُ ٱلْحَرَامُ بِٱلشَّهْرِ ٱلْحَرَامِ وَٱلْحُرُمَٰتُ قِصَاصٌ فَمَنِ ٱعْتَدَىٰ عَلَيْكُمْ فَٱعْتَدُوا۟ عَلَيْهِ بِمِثْلِ مَا ٱعْتَدَىٰ عَلَيْكُمْ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَعَ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ
A sacred month for a sacred month, and for sacred things there is fair retribution. So whoever assaults you, assault him in the like of what he did to you. And be mindful of God, and know that God is with those who guard themselves. The permission is bounded twice over - by 'in the like of' and by the warning that closes it.
حرمت والا مہینہ حرمت والے مہینے کے بدلے، اور حرمت والی چیزوں میں برابری کا بدلہ ہے۔ سو جو تم پر زیادتی کرے، تم بھی اسی طرح اس پر زیادتی کرو جیسی اس نے تم پر کی۔ اور اللہ سے ڈرتے رہو اور جان لو کہ اللہ متقیوں کے ساتھ ہے۔ یہ اجازت دو حدوں میں باندھی گئی ہے — 'اسی طرح' کے الفاظ سے، اور اختتام پر آنے والی تنبیہ سے۔
