وَٱلْمُطَلَّقَٰتُ يَتَرَبَّصْنَ بِأَنفُسِهِنَّ ثَلَٰثَةَ قُرُوٓءٍ وَلَا يَحِلُّ لَهُنَّ أَن يَكْتُمْنَ مَا خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ فِىٓ أَرْحَامِهِنَّ إِن كُنَّ يُؤْمِنَّ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ وَبُعُولَتُهُنَّ أَحَقُّ بِرَدِّهِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ إِنْ أَرَادُوٓا۟ إِصْلَٰحًا وَلَهُنَّ مِثْلُ ٱلَّذِى عَلَيْهِنَّ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَلِلرِّجَالِ عَلَيْهِنَّ دَرَجَةٌ وَٱللَّهُ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ
And divorced women shall wait by themselves for three cycles. And it is not lawful for them to conceal what God has created in their wombs, if they believe in God and the Last Day. And their husbands have the better right to take them back during that time, if they want to set things right. And women have rights like those upon them, in fairness - and men have a degree over them. And God is Mighty, Wise. The waiting is what establishes whether there is a child, which is why concealing it is named in the same breath.
اور طلاق دی گئی عورتیں اپنے آپ کو تین حیض تک روکے رکھیں۔ اور ان کے لیے یہ جائز نہیں کہ اللہ نے ان کے رحموں میں جو کچھ پیدا کیا ہے اسے چھپائیں، اگر وہ اللہ اور یومِ آخرت پر ایمان رکھتی ہیں۔ اور ان کے شوہر اس مدت میں انہیں واپس لینے کے زیادہ حق دار ہیں، اگر وہ اصلاح چاہیں۔ اور عورتوں کے لیے بھی وہی حقوق ہیں جو ان پر ہیں، معروف طریقے سے — اور مردوں کو ان پر ایک درجہ حاصل ہے۔ اور اللہ زبردست، حکمت والا ہے۔ یہ انتظار ہی طے کرتا ہے کہ کوئی حمل ہے یا نہیں، اسی لیے اسے چھپانا اسی سانس میں بیان کیا گیا ہے۔
