وَإِن كُنتُمْ فِى رَيْبٍ مِّمَّا نَزَّلْنَا عَلَىٰ عَبْدِنَا فَأْتُوا۟ بِسُورَةٍ مِّن مِّثْلِهِۦ وَٱدْعُوا۟ شُهَدَآءَكُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ
And if you are in doubt about what We have sent down to Our servant, then produce one surah of its like, and call whatever witnesses you have besides God, if you are telling the truth. The likeness demanded is in all of it at once - the eloquence, the ordering, and the reporting of what no one could know; and the shortest surah is three ayat, so the challenge is not set at an impossible length.
اور اگر تمہیں اس چیز میں شک ہے جو ہم نے اپنے بندے پر نازل کی ہے، تو اس جیسی ایک سورت بنا لاؤ، اور اللہ کے سوا اپنے جتنے گواہ ہیں انہیں بلا لو، اگر تم سچے ہو۔ جو مشابہت مانگی گئی ہے وہ ایک ساتھ سب پہلوؤں میں ہے — فصاحت میں، ترتیب میں، اور ایسی خبروں میں جو کوئی جان نہیں سکتا تھا؛ اور سب سے چھوٹی سورت صرف تین آیتوں کی ہے، اس لیے یہ چیلنج ناممکن طوالت پر مبنی نہیں ہے۔
