وَٱلْوَٰلِدَٰتُ يُرْضِعْنَ أَوْلَٰدَهُنَّ حَوْلَيْنِ كَامِلَيْنِ لِمَنْ أَرَادَ أَن يُتِمَّ ٱلرَّضَاعَةَ وَعَلَى ٱلْمَوْلُودِ لَهُۥ رِزْقُهُنَّ وَكِسْوَتُهُنَّ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ لَا تُكَلَّفُ نَفْسٌ إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا لَا تُضَآرَّ وَٰلِدَةٌۢ بِوَلَدِهَا وَلَا مَوْلُودٌ لَّهُۥ بِوَلَدِهِۦ وَعَلَى ٱلْوَارِثِ مِثْلُ ذَٰلِكَ فَإِنْ أَرَادَا فِصَالًا عَن تَرَاضٍ مِّنْهُمَا وَتَشَاوُرٍ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِمَا وَإِنْ أَرَدتُّمْ أَن تَسْتَرْضِعُوٓا۟ أَوْلَٰدَكُمْ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذَا سَلَّمْتُم مَّآ ءَاتَيْتُم بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ
And mothers shall nurse their children two full years, for whoever wishes to complete the nursing. And upon the father is their provision and clothing, in fairness. No soul is charged beyond its capacity. No mother shall be harmed through her child, nor a father through his child. And if the two of them decide on weaning by mutual consent and consultation, there is no blame on them. And if you want to have your children nursed by someone else, there is no blame on you, so long as you hand over what you have promised, in fairness. And be mindful of God, and know that God sees what you do. Every clause turns on agreement between the two parents, and the child's welfare is what the agreement is about.
اور مائیں اپنے بچوں کو پورے دو سال دودھ پلائیں، اس کے لیے جو دودھ پلانے کی مدت پوری کرنا چاہے۔ اور بچے کے باپ پر ہے کہ وہ انہیں معروف طریقے سے کھانا اور کپڑا دے۔ کسی جان پر اس کی طاقت سے زیادہ بوجھ نہیں ڈالا جاتا۔ نہ ماں کو اس کے بچے کی وجہ سے نقصان پہنچایا جائے، نہ باپ کو اس کے بچے کی وجہ سے۔ اور وارث پر بھی وہی ذمہ داری ہے۔ پھر اگر دونوں آپس کی رضامندی اور مشورے سے دودھ چھڑانا چاہیں تو ان پر کوئی گناہ نہیں۔ اور اگر تم چاہو کہ اپنے بچوں کو کسی اور سے دودھ پلواؤ تو تم پر کوئی گناہ نہیں، بشرطیکہ جو تم نے طے کیا اسے معروف طریقے سے ادا کر دو۔ اور اللہ سے ڈرتے رہو اور جان لو کہ اللہ جو کچھ تم کرتے ہو اسے دیکھتا ہے۔ ہر شق کا انحصار دونوں والدین کی باہمی رضامندی پر ہے، اور یہ رضامندی خود بچے کی بھلائی کے بارے میں ہے۔
