وَإِن طَلَّقْتُمُوهُنَّ مِن قَبْلِ أَن تَمَسُّوهُنَّ وَقَدْ فَرَضْتُمْ لَهُنَّ فَرِيضَةً فَنِصْفُ مَا فَرَضْتُمْ إِلَّآ أَن يَعْفُونَ أَوْ يَعْفُوَا۟ ٱلَّذِى بِيَدِهِۦ عُقْدَةُ ٱلنِّكَاحِ وَأَن تَعْفُوٓا۟ أَقْرَبُ لِلتَّقْوَىٰ وَلَا تَنسَوُا۟ ٱلْفَضْلَ بَيْنَكُمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ
And if you divorce them before you have touched them, and you have already fixed a bridal gift for them, then half of what you fixed - unless they forgo it, or the one in whose hand is the marriage tie forgoes it. And that you forgo is nearer to being mindful of God. And do not forget generosity between yourselves; truly God sees what you do. The law sets the halves, and then both parties are invited to give up their half.
اور اگر تم انہیں چھونے سے پہلے طلاق دے دو، جبکہ تم نے ان کے لیے مہر مقرر کر رکھا تھا، تو جو تم نے مقرر کیا اس کا آدھا دو — سوائے اس کے کہ وہ خود معاف کر دیں، یا وہ شخص معاف کر دے جس کے ہاتھ میں نکاح کی ڈوری ہے۔ اور تمہارا معاف کر دینا تقویٰ کے زیادہ قریب ہے۔ اور آپس میں فضل و احسان بھلانا مت، بےشک اللہ جو تم کرتے ہو اسے دیکھتا ہے۔ قانون نے آدھے حصے مقرر کیے، اور پھر دونوں فریقوں کو اپنا آدھا حصہ چھوڑ دینے کی دعوت دی۔
