فَهَزَمُوهُم بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِ وَقَتَلَ دَاوُۥدُ جَالُوتَ وَءَاتَىٰهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُلْكَ وَٱلْحِكْمَةَ وَعَلَّمَهُۥ مِمَّا يَشَآءُ وَلَوْلَا دَفْعُ ٱللَّهِ ٱلنَّاسَ بَعْضَهُم بِبَعْضٍ لَّفَسَدَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ ذُو فَضْلٍ عَلَى ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
So they routed them by God's leave, and David killed Goliath; and God gave him kingship and wisdom, and taught him of what He willed. And were it not that God repels some people by means of others, the earth would be ruined - but God is the possessor of favour to all the worlds. The one who decided the battle was not the king they had asked for but a young man in his army.
پھر انہوں نے اللہ کے حکم سے انہیں شکست دی، اور داؤد نے جالوت کو قتل کر دیا، اور اللہ نے اسے بادشاہت اور حکمت دی، اور اسے جو چاہا سکھایا۔ اور اگر اللہ لوگوں میں سے بعض کو بعض کے ذریعے نہ روکتا تو زمین میں فساد پھیل جاتا — لیکن اللہ تمام جہانوں پر فضل کرنے والا ہے۔ لڑائی کا فیصلہ اس بادشاہ نے نہیں کیا جسے انہوں نے مانگا تھا، بلکہ اس کے لشکر کے ایک نوجوان نے کیا۔
