يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تُبْطِلُوا۟ صَدَقَٰتِكُم بِٱلْمَنِّ وَٱلْأَذَىٰ كَٱلَّذِى يُنفِقُ مَالَهُۥ رِئَآءَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَا يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ فَمَثَلُهُۥ كَمَثَلِ صَفْوَانٍ عَلَيْهِ تُرَابٌ فَأَصَابَهُۥ وَابِلٌ فَتَرَكَهُۥ صَلْدًا لَّا يَقْدِرُونَ عَلَىٰ شَىْءٍ مِّمَّا كَسَبُوا۟ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ
You who believe, do not cancel out your charities with reminders and hurt, like one who spends his wealth to be seen by people and does not believe in God and the Last Day. His likeness is that of a smooth rock with soil on it: a downpour strikes it and leaves it bare. They gain nothing from what they earned - and God does not guide the people who refuse. The soil looked like ground that could grow something; what the rain revealed was that there was nothing underneath it.
اے ایمان والو! اپنے صدقات کو احسان جتانے اور تکلیف دینے سے باطل نہ کرو، اس شخص کی طرح جو اپنا مال محض لوگوں کو دکھانے کے لیے خرچ کرتا ہے اور نہ اللہ پر ایمان رکھتا ہے نہ یومِ آخرت پر۔ اس کی مثال ایک چکنے پتھر کی سی ہے جس پر مٹی ہو، پھر اس پر تیز بارش پڑے اور وہ اسے بالکل صاف چھوڑ دے۔ وہ اپنی کمائی میں سے کسی چیز پر قابو نہیں رکھتے۔ اور اللہ کافر قوم کو ہدایت نہیں دیتا۔ مٹی ایسی زمین لگتی تھی جس میں کچھ اگ سکے؛ بارش نے ظاہر کیا کہ نیچے کچھ بھی نہیں تھا۔
