وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ ٱسْجُدُوا۟ لِـَٔادَمَ فَسَجَدُوٓا۟ إِلَّآ إِبْلِيسَ أَبَىٰ وَٱسْتَكْبَرَ وَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ
And when We said to the angels, 'Bow down before Adam,' they bowed - all except Iblis. He refused, and was arrogant, and so was among those who cover over the truth. The bowing commanded was one of honour and greeting, not of worship.
اور جب ہم نے فرشتوں سے کہا: 'آدم کو سجدہ کرو' تو وہ سب سجدے میں گر گئے، سوائے ابلیس کے۔ اس نے انکار کیا اور تکبر کیا، اور کافروں میں سے ہو گیا۔ یہ سجدہ جو حکم دیا گیا تھا وہ عزت و تکریم اور استقبال کا سجدہ تھا، عبادت کا سجدہ نہیں تھا۔
