وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَن تَذْبَحُوا۟ بَقَرَةً قَالُوٓا۟ أَتَتَّخِذُنَا هُزُوًا قَالَ أَعُوذُ بِٱللَّهِ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْجَٰهِلِينَ
And when Moses said to his people, 'God commands you to slaughter a cow,' they said, 'Are you making fun of us?' He said, 'I take refuge with God from being among the ignorant.' A man had been killed among them and no one knew the killer, and they had asked Moses to ask God - so the command was the answer to their own question.
اور یاد کرو جب موسیٰ نے اپنی قوم سے کہا: 'اللہ تمہیں حکم دیتا ہے کہ ایک گائے ذبح کرو۔' انہوں نے کہا: 'کیا تم ہمارا مذاق اڑا رہے ہو؟' موسیٰ نے کہا: 'میں اس بات سے اللہ کی پناہ مانگتا ہوں کہ جاہلوں میں سے ہو جاؤں۔' ان میں ایک شخص قتل ہو چکا تھا اور کسی کو قاتل کا پتا نہ تھا، اور انہوں نے موسیٰ سے کہا تھا کہ وہ اللہ سے پوچھے، تو یہ حکم دراصل ان کے اپنے سوال کا جواب تھا۔
