قَالُوا۟ ٱدْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُبَيِّن لَّنَا مَا هِىَ قَالَ إِنَّهُۥ يَقُولُ إِنَّهَا بَقَرَةٌ لَّا فَارِضٌ وَلَا بِكْرٌ عَوَانٌۢ بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ فَٱفْعَلُوا۟ مَا تُؤْمَرُونَ
They said, 'Call on your Lord for us to make clear to us what she is.' He said, 'He says she is a cow neither old nor young, middling between the two - so do what you are commanded.' The closing words are the point: they had been told enough already.
انہوں نے کہا: 'اپنے رب سے دعا کر کہ وہ ہمیں واضح بتائے کہ وہ کیسی ہے۔' موسیٰ نے کہا: 'وہ فرماتا ہے کہ وہ ایک ایسی گائے ہے جو نہ بوڑھی ہے نہ کم عمر، بلکہ ان کے درمیان ہے — سو جو حکم دیا جائے وہ کرو۔' آخری الفاظ ہی اصل بات ہیں: انہیں پہلے ہی کافی بتایا جا چکا تھا۔
