خَتَمَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ وَعَلَىٰ سَمْعِهِمْ وَعَلَىٰٓ أَبْصَٰرِهِمْ غِشَٰوَةٌ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ
God has set a seal on their hearts and on their hearing, so that no good gets in and nothing they hear of the truth benefits them, and over their eyes is a covering, so they do not see it. And theirs is a great punishment. The seal falls on people already entrenched in denial; it is the withdrawal of a favour, and that withdrawal is itself the penalty.
اللہ نے ان کے دلوں اور کانوں پر مہر لگا دی ہے، اس طرح کہ کوئی بھلائی ان میں داخل نہیں ہوتی اور حق کی کوئی بات انہیں فائدہ نہیں دیتی، اور ان کی آنکھوں پر پردہ ہے، اس لیے وہ حق کو دیکھ نہیں پاتے۔ اور ان کے لیے بہت بڑا عذاب ہے۔ یہ مہر ان لوگوں پر لگتی ہے جو پہلے سے انکار میں جم چکے ہیں؛ یہ دراصل ایک نعمت کا واپس لے لیا جانا ہے، اور یہی واپسی خود سزا ہے۔
