قَالَ إِنَّهُۥ يَقُولُ إِنَّهَا بَقَرَةٌ لَّا ذَلُولٌ تُثِيرُ ٱلْأَرْضَ وَلَا تَسْقِى ٱلْحَرْثَ مُسَلَّمَةٌ لَّا شِيَةَ فِيهَا قَالُوا۟ ٱلْـَٰٔنَ جِئْتَ بِٱلْحَقِّ فَذَبَحُوهَا وَمَا كَادُوا۟ يَفْعَلُونَ
He said, 'He says she is a cow not broken in to plough the earth or water the field, sound, with no mark on her.' They said, 'Now you have brought the truth.' And they slaughtered her, though they almost did not. What was reported about this is that any cow would have sufficed them - they made it hard on themselves, and it was made hard on them.
موسیٰ نے کہا: 'وہ فرماتا ہے کہ وہ ایسی گائے ہے جو زمین جوتنے یا کھیت سینچنے کے لیے نہیں لگائی گئی، بےعیب ہے، اس میں کوئی داغ نہیں۔' انہوں نے کہا: 'اب تم صحیح بات لائے ہو۔' پھر انہوں نے اسے ذبح کیا، حالانکہ وہ ایسا کرتے کرتے رہ ہی گئے تھے۔ اس بارے میں کہا گیا ہے کہ کوئی بھی گائے انہیں کافی ہو جاتی — انہوں نے خود اپنے اوپر سختی کی، اور انہی پر سختی کر دی گئی۔
