وَإِذْ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَٰقَ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ لَا تَعْبُدُونَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَ وَبِٱلْوَٰلِدَيْنِ إِحْسَانًا وَذِى ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ وَٱلْيَتَٰمَىٰ وَٱلْمَسَٰكِينِ وَقُولُوا۟ لِلنَّاسِ حُسْنًا وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ ثُمَّ تَوَلَّيْتُمْ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا مِّنكُمْ وَأَنتُم مُّعْرِضُونَ
And when We took the covenant of the Children of Israel: worship none but God; and be good to parents, and to relatives, and to orphans, and to the needy; and speak well to people; and establish the prayer, and give the zakat. Then you turned away, all but a few of you, and you were averse. The order runs from God, to the household, to the stranger, to the word spoken in passing - and it is one covenant.
اور یاد کرو جب ہم نے بنی اسرائیل سے عہد لیا: اللہ کے سوا کسی کی عبادت نہ کرنا؛ اور والدین کے ساتھ، رشتہ داروں، یتیموں اور مسکینوں کے ساتھ اچھا سلوک کرنا؛ اور لوگوں سے اچھی بات کہنا؛ اور نماز قائم کرنا اور زکوٰۃ دینا۔ پھر تم میں سے تھوڑے لوگوں کے سوا سب نے منہ پھیر لیا، اور تم روگردانی کرنے والے تھے۔ یہ ترتیب اللہ سے شروع ہو کر گھر والوں، پھر اجنبی، پھر گزرتے ہوئے کہے جانے والے لفظ تک جاتی ہے — اور یہ سب ایک ہی عہد ہے۔
