وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ ءَامِنُوا۟ بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ قَالُوا۟ نُؤْمِنُ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيْنَا وَيَكْفُرُونَ بِمَا وَرَآءَهُۥ وَهُوَ ٱلْحَقُّ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا مَعَهُمْ قُلْ فَلِمَ تَقْتُلُونَ أَنۢبِيَآءَ ٱللَّهِ مِن قَبْلُ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
And when they are told, 'Believe in what God has sent down,' they say, 'We believe in what was sent down to us,' and they reject what came after it, though it is the truth confirming what they have. Say: then why were you killing the prophets of God before, if you were believers? The answer takes their own claim and tests it on their own history: the prophets they killed came with the very revelation they say they hold to.
اور جب ان سے کہا جاتا ہے 'اس چیز پر ایمان لاؤ جو اللہ نے نازل کی' تو وہ کہتے ہیں 'ہم اسی پر ایمان لاتے ہیں جو ہم پر نازل کیا گیا' اور اس کے بعد جو آیا اس کا انکار کرتے ہیں، حالانکہ وہی حق ہے، اس چیز کی تصدیق کرتا ہوا جو ان کے پاس ہے۔ کہہ دیجیے: پھر تم اس سے پہلے اللہ کے نبیوں کو کیوں قتل کرتے رہے، اگر تم مومن تھے؟ یہ جواب ان کے اپنے دعوے کو لے کر انہی کی تاریخ پر آزماتا ہے: جن نبیوں کو انہوں نے قتل کیا وہ اسی وحی کے ساتھ آئے تھے جس پر یہ ایمان رکھنے کا دعویٰ کرتے ہیں۔
