أَفَلَا يَرَوْنَ أَلَّا يَرْجِعُ إِلَيْهِمْ قَوْلًا وَلَا يَمْلِكُ لَهُمْ ضَرًّا وَلَا نَفْعًا
Did they not see that it returned them no word and had no power to harm them or help them? The commentaries take the two tests as the plainest available: it cannot speak, and it cannot act.
