يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَتَّبِعُوا۟ خُطُوَٰتِ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنِ وَمَن يَتَّبِعْ خُطُوَٰتِ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنِ فَإِنَّهُۥ يَأْمُرُ بِٱلْفَحْشَآءِ وَٱلْمُنكَرِ وَلَوْلَا فَضْلُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَتُهُۥ مَا زَكَىٰ مِنكُم مِّنْ أَحَدٍ أَبَدًا وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُزَكِّى مَن يَشَآءُ وَٱللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ
You who believe: do not walk in Satan's footsteps - the commentaries name the spreading of talk like this as one of those steps. Whoever follows them is following one who commands nothing but indecency and wrong. And were it not for God's favour to you and His mercy, not one of you would ever have come clean; but God purifies whom He wills, and He hears and knows.
اے ایمان والو! شیطان کے قدموں کے پیچھے مت چلو، اور مفسرین نے ایسی بری باتیں پھیلانا بھی شیطان کے قدموں میں شمار کیا ہے۔ اور جو شیطان کے قدموں کی پیروی کرے تو وہ صرف بے حیائی اور برائی کا حکم دیتا ہے۔ اور اگر تم پر اللہ کا فضل اور اس کی رحمت نہ ہوتی تو تم میں سے کوئی بھی کبھی گناہوں سے پاک نہ ہوتا، لیکن اللہ اپنے جس بندے کو چاہے پاک کر دیتا ہے، اور اللہ سب کچھ سننے والا اور جاننے والا ہے۔
