إِنَّ قَٰرُونَ كَانَ مِن قَوْمِ مُوسَىٰ فَبَغَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُ مِنَ ٱلْكُنُوزِ مَآ إِنَّ مَفَاتِحَهُۥ لَتَنُوٓأُ بِٱلْعُصْبَةِ أُو۟لِى ٱلْقُوَّةِ إِذْ قَالَ لَهُۥ قَوْمُهُۥ لَا تَفْرَحْ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلْفَرِحِينَ
Korah was of the people of Moses, and he turned on them with pride and height and the weight of his wealth. God had given him treasures whose very keys would have weighed down a band of strong men. His own people said to him: do not exult. God does not love those who exult.
قارون موسیٰ کی قوم میں سے تھا، لیکن اس نے تکبر اور اپنے مال کے بوجھ سے ان پر زیادتی کی۔ اللہ نے اسے اتنے خزانے دیے تھے کہ ان کی کنجیاں طاقتور آدمیوں کی جماعت پر بھاری پڑتیں۔ اس کی اپنی قوم نے اس سے کہا: اترا مت، اللہ اترانے والوں کو پسند نہیں کرتا۔
