وَلَا تُجَٰدِلُوٓا۟ أَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ إِلَّا بِٱلَّتِى هِىَ أَحْسَنُ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ وَقُولُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِٱلَّذِىٓ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْنَا وَأُنزِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ وَإِلَٰهُنَا وَإِلَٰهُكُمْ وَٰحِدٌ وَنَحْنُ لَهُۥ مُسْلِمُونَ
And do not argue with the People of the Book except in the best way, calling to God by His signs and pointing to His proofs, save with those of them who do wrong. And say: we believe in what was sent down to us and in what was sent down to you; our God and your God is one; and to Him we submit.
اور اہل کتاب یعنی یہود و نصاری سے صرف اس طریقے سے بحث کرو جو سب سے اچھا ہو، یعنی نرمی اور لطف کے ساتھ اللہ کی آیات اور دلائل کی طرف بلاتے ہوئے، سوائے ان میں سے ظالموں کے جو ضد پر اڑے رہیں اور جنگ کریں۔ اور کہو کہ ہم اس پر ایمان لائے جو ہم پر یعنی قرآن نازل ہوا اور اس پر بھی جو تم پر یعنی تورات اور انجیل نازل ہوئی، اور ہمارا اور تمہارا معبود ایک ہی ہے، اور ہم اسی کے فرمانبردار ہیں۔
