يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِن تُطِيعُوا۟ فَرِيقًا مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ يَرُدُّوكُم بَعْدَ إِيمَٰنِكُمْ كَٰفِرِينَ
You who believe, if you obey a party of those given the Scripture, they will turn you back into refusers after your belief. The commentaries carry the occasion together: a man of the Jews set the Aws and the Khazraj reciting the grudges of their old war until swords were nearly drawn, and the ayah came down on that fire.
اے ایمان والو، اگر تم اہل کتاب کے کسی گروہ کی بات مان لو تو وہ تمہیں تمہارے ایمان کے بعد کافر بنا دیں گے۔ مفسرین اس کا پس منظر بھی ساتھ بیان کرتے ہیں: یہود کے ایک آدمی نے اوس اور خزرج کو ان کی پرانی جنگ کے اشعار سنانے پر لگا دیا یہاں تک کہ تلواریں نکلنے کے قریب پہنچ گئیں، اور یہ آیت اسی آگ پر نازل ہوئی۔
