يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ حَقَّ تُقَاتِهِۦ وَلَا تَمُوتُنَّ إِلَّا وَأَنتُم مُّسْلِمُونَ
You who believe, be mindful of God as He deserves, and do not die except in submission. The commentaries carry the same account of what mindfulness as He deserves means: that He is obeyed and not defied, remembered and not forgotten, thanked and not denied.
اللہ سے ویسا ہی ڈرو جیسا اس سے ڈرنے کا حق ہے، اور ہرگز نہ مرنا مگر اس حال میں کہ تم مسلمان ہو۔ مفسرین وہی روایت بیان کرتے ہیں کہ حق تقاۃ کا کیا مطلب ہے: یہ کہ اس کی اطاعت کی جائے نافرمانی نہ کی جائے، اسے یاد رکھا جائے بھلایا نہ جائے، اس کا شکر ادا کیا جائے ناشکری نہ کی جائے۔
